Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter has been ruled out for Monday's (December 8) game against the Los Angeles Chargers after undergoing a procedure on both of his shoulders one week prior, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday (December 4).
"Sources: Eagles DT Jalen Carter is out for Monday night’s game vs. the Chargers after undergoing a procedure this past Monday on both his shoulders. Carter now is undergoing treatment on both shoulders, and he will be considered be week to week to return. Carter wanted to be as close to 100% as possible for the playoff run," Schefter wrote on his X account.
Carter, 24, took responsibility for an uncharacteristic performance in Friday's (November 28) loss to the Chicago Bears, acknowledging that "there were some runs I got drove back or I wasn't making no effect on the play" while speaking to reporters via ESPN.
"It's my problems to deal with. I ain't gonna tell everybody what I'm going through," Carter added when asked for an explanation.
Carter was selected by the Eagles at No. 9 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft and appeared in 16 games during each of the past two seasons, making one start as a rookie and 15 in 2024. The former University of Georgia standout was a second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler during his second season, which ultimately culminated with Philadelphia defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
