After releasing her new Treat Myself song "Waves," Meghan Trainor has shared the dance floor track's official music video. In the visual, Meghan is surrounded by a mountain of dancers as their choreography is made to look like waves crashing against her. Now, fans can find out how she, her dancers and her team created the human wave shot in a behind-the-scenes look.
A large group of dancers surround Meghan, who is standing on a platform covered by her flowing white dress. The choreographer leads their movement as she instructs everyone to sway their arms, bodies and legs in a way that mimics waves. The director added, "Imagine that she's [Meghan] like a rock in the water, and you're all just waves, just crashing."
Meghan's husband, Daryl Sabara, approves:
Meghan explained in a press release that "Wave" has been in the making for a while. She said, "This song has been in the works for three years, and I’m so excited to finally release it! I've never worked harder on a song. Mike Sabath's production and verse took it to a whole new level. I know my fans have been waiting a long time for this one, and they deserve the best. I'm happy they stuck with me. I hope they love it!"
Producer of the song Mike Sabath added, "Meghan and I got really close while working on her new album this year. We were in the studio one night working on 'Wave' and she asked if I would please do a verse on it. I felt super inspired by her voice and the energy of the people in the studio and was able to one take the verse and then we just filled in the lyric."
"Wave" comes on the heels of her "Genetics" song from Netflix's new series Tall Girl, and her Friends theme song cover "I'll Be There For You" in honor of the show's 25th anniversary, as well as the news that she will be joining The Voice UK as a coach alongside Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Olly Murs.
No official release date has been set for Treat Myself just yet, but the long-awaited, highly anticipated third album is expected to be released "soon."
