Meghan Markle Cheers On Serena Williams At US Open — See The Pics

Meghan Markle made sure she was stateside to watch her bestie Serena Williams' attempt at a record-tying 24th Grand Slam.

The Duchess of Sussex was among Serena's friends-and-family-filled player's box at the 2019 US Open on Saturday (September 7). Meghan sat in front of Anna Wintour and behind Serena's husband Alexis Ohanian as they watched the 37-year-old tennis star compete against Canada's Bianca Andreescu.

While Serena didn't make history, losing 6-3, 7-5, Meghan supported her bestie throughout the tense match, cheering her own from the stands.

For the occasion, Meghan wore a denim J.Crew shirtdress, which she caped with a collarless gray sweater blazer.

As previously reported, the royal reportedly flew solo to New York City aboard a commercial flight from London on Friday (September 6), leaving her husband Prince Harry and their four-month-old son Archie in the U.K. The trip marked the Duchess' first trip overseas without her baby boy.

According to The Times, Meghan's unexpected decision to attend the US Open was very "last minute," so, Harry remained at their Windsor home over the weekend to care for Archie. "It is a last-minute trip,” a source told The Times. "[Meghan is] excited to support her friend, and then come back."

Back in July, Meghan attended two of Serena’s matches at Wimbledon. For the finals match, she was joined by her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

As royal fans know, Meghan and Serena first met at the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami where they immediately clicked and have been friends ever since.
